Union Home Minister Amit Shah today took the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. He was vaccinated by Medanta Hospital doctors. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar also followed suit, and said he “felt secure”. Earlier, today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar also got inoculated.  Pawar was accompanied by his daughter and NCP MP Supriya Sule. After being admitted to the hospital, Pawar underwent a primary health check-up after which he was given the Covishiedl vaccine.

The day started with enthusiasm among the senior citizens who reached the vaccination centres for getting the first dose. However, problems like delay in registration were encouraged during the initial hours. At some centres including the one at Jaipuria hospital in Jaipur, people had to wait for one to two hours before getting the shot while technical glitches delayed the drive at a few places including six sites in the super specialty block of the new medical college hospital in Kota.
