A 71-year-old man, recently married a widowed woman five years after his wife passed away.
The newly wedded couple' s picture was shared on Twitter by his daughter, Aditi, on Tuesday, April 27. Aditi's post has gone viral on social media, with netizens praising and congratulating the new couple for remarrying against all odds.
Aditi wrote, "This is my 71-year-old father, remarrying after being a widow for 5 years, to another widow. I have always wanted him to remarry because no one deserves to be lonely," Aditi captioned the post while sharing the photograph.
"But it has been complicated. There are no straight forward legal rules in India for remarrying. There were women who asked for money. There were women who ghosted him. We still don't know if society will accept them. We still don't know if they will adapt to each other," she added.
Netizens showered their love and congratulated the couple.
First of all stop worrying about the so called society. Everyone has enough problems to worry about and need to live for ourselves. It’s not society that defines our lives and it will not support or care for you at difficult times. Care for the family and friends 👍All the best— Raghav Venkatesan (@RaghavVenkates6) April 27, 2021
This should be normalised. It’s perfectly fine for old people to seek companionship. https://t.co/YMR2dpjePX— a muse (@_a_muse) April 27, 2021
This is the way it should be.— Manjot Singh Bindra (@BindraManjot) April 27, 2021
One needs a companion ,more so when you advance in age .
A society that expects you to be miserable and lonely because of ugly 'rules and stigma' attached to it isn't worth stressing over. All that matters is his happiness. Thank you for sharing this and helping in normalizing re-marriages at an older age, this is truly beautiful 💚— Ankit Oberoi (@ankitoberoi_) April 27, 2021
