The International Boxing Association (AIBA) on Thursday clarified that the body had no choice other than to terminate India's contract after the desperate attempts were made to pay the host fees as mentioned in the Host City Agreement.AIBA issued a statement after the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on Tuesday said that the decision was taken 'in haste'.But as New Delhi did not fulfil its obligations to pay the host fee as mentioned in the Host City Agreement, despite numerous reminders by AIBA and after having been offered multiple options to settle their obligations, AIBA had no choice but to terminate the contract in April 2020," read AIBA statement."We are in touch with AIBA and BFI president Ajay Singh has spoken with AIBA Interim President, Dr Mohamed Mustahsane a while back and both parties are working for an amicable solution," the statement read.

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has terminated India's contract to host the Men's World Boxing Championships for not fulfilling obligations to pay host fee as mentioned in the Host City Agreement terms.In a statement issued on Tuesday, AIBA said it has now handed the hosting rights to Belgrade, Serbia for the tournament, scheduled to take place next year."AIBA Men's World Boxing Championships takes place in the city of Belgrade in 2021.Serbia has everything to orgze a great event for athletes, coaches, officials, and, of course, for our boxing fans," Moustahsane said in a statement.
