Aurangabad, May 4:The commissioner of police (CP) Nikhil Gupta today paid surprise visits to various 'nakabandi' (blockade) points and inquired with many vehicle-riders the reasons for stepping out of their homes. He also ordered to take action against the vehicle-owners violating the norms. The visit was to ensure the strict implementation of nakabandi resorted to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus in the city.The police administration has fixed 59 nakabandi (blockade) points in the city during the curfew. A team comprising one police officer and 10 constables is deployed at each point. He paid surprise visits today afternoon. At Harsul T Point, he stopped many vehicles and asked them the reasons for stepping out of their homes, where are they going, etc. Many of them were farmers entering the city limits with their agri-produce and some were heading to the banks. There were some, who were going to buy grocery items, as well. Meanwhile, the CP informed the police officials at the points to avoid taking action against persons crossing the district border and entering the city for medical reasons.At Mahaveer Chowk, he spotted two doctors arriving in the city from Nasik without e-pass. They pleaded innocence, but legal action was taken against them. He also instructed the cops performing the duty at the nakabandi point to take rest on a rotation basis to avoid sun stroke. The team leader should plan the rotation, he said. Gupta also told them not to spare the violators." I found persons moving on the roads with suitable and concrete reasons. The police are taking action against the persons roaming in the city without any reason and without wearing the face mask," said the CP.
