Aurangabad, March 25:The guardian minister Subhash Desai has instructed the administrative officers to conduct 10,000 tests daily and increase the testing centres up to 500 in the district.Desai was in the city to review measures taken by the administration to curb the Covid-19 situation at the district collectorate today afternoon. The collector Sunil Chavan, municipal commissioner A K Pandey, zilla parishad chief executive officer (CEO) Mahesh Gondavale and the superintendent of police (SP) Mokshada Patil attended the meeting.The guardian minister underlined the challenge before the government. He said," On one hand, the priority is to curb the spread of Coronavirus, and on the other hand all care is taken to ensure the employment of people does not get affected, and they do not lose their income. The administration should be on their toes to take adequate measures relating to the treatment, arrangement of cots, medical facilities etc. Reviewing the experience of Covid-19's first wave, all of them should act efficiently and responsibly to get rid of the second wave."Updates from the administrative officersThe collector said, " The testing has been increased in the district. It is noted that there is a rise in detection of patients from areas adjoining the city, municipal council limit, weekly bazaar, places where the population is dense and the industrial sectors."The commissioner of police said that the prohibitory orders had been issued to prevent the gathering of people, which may cause the spread of the virus. So far, cases had been filed against 90 persons for violating the orders. Moreover, under the night curfew, persons found roaming without any valid reason after 8 pm will be checked thoroughly.The municipal commissioner, " The testing and treatment facilities have been increased, apart from the Covid Care Centres. The college hostels and function halls are being converted into CCCs equipped with all facilities."The ZP-CEO said that the spreading of Coronavirus is on a large scale in the rural sector during the second wave. Hence the arrangements of the adequate number of cots and other facilities are being made in the CCCs and DCHCs. The measures of containment zones are also being taken in villages reporting more than 50 patients.The SP said, " For effective implementation of police machinery in the rural sector during the critical situation, the provision of home guards as an additional support will be helpful."
