2 policemen booked for demanding bribe

Aurangabad, March 8:

Two policemen from the Waluj police station have been booked for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000, two years back, from a building contractor for not registering a cheating case against him and keeping him in the lockup.

Two years back, building contractor Raju Asaram Badawane (Garkheda area) had taken the contract of constructing a house of Bhagwan Kadam at Ranjangaon Shenpunji. But, a dispute arose between them over the money transaction. Kadam lodged a complaint against Badawane at Waluj MIDC police station. Constable, Ashok Kamble on March 3, 2019, contacted Badawane and called him for inquiry at Waluj MIDC police station. Kamble demanded Rs 20,000 for not registering a case against him, but Badawane refused it. Two days later, Kamble called him to the police station. When he went there, Kamble was not present. Another constable, Ramdas Kawatwar spoke with Kamble on phone and then demanded Rs 5000 from Badawane. He then lodged a complaint against Kamble and Kawatwar at the Anti-corruption Bureau.

After the report of the complaint was received, ACB PI, Ganesh Ghokat called Badawane and asked him to lodge complaint against the two policemen. Today, (on Monday), Badawane lodged a complaint against Kamble and Kawatwar at the Waluj MIDC police station.
