42K farmers in A’bad zone pay arrears of Rs 22 cr under Maha Krishi Urja Abhiyan

Aurangabad, March 2: A total of 4.21 lakh farmers in the state have paid Rs 368.22 crore, while 42,263 farmers in Aurangabad zone have paid 21.95 crore after the announcement of various concessions under the Maha Krishi Urja Abhiyan to pay the power bill arrears in October 2020.

Energy minister Dr Nitin Raut has thanked the farmers for the increasing response to the scheme. He also appealed to all the farmers in arrears to take advantage of this campaign. The state government has taken a historic step of waiving arrears of about Rs 15,000 crore from farmers.

The campaign will be implemented over a period of three years under which concessions will be given in bill arrears and delayed payment charges. A total of 26, 776 farmers in Aurangabad district have paid Rs 14.10 crore and 15, 487 farmers in Jalna district have paid Rs 7.85 crore in arrears. Out of the arrears collected from the villages, 33 per cent will be spent on the power supply infrastructure of the same village.
