50 percent patients home quarantine, still dearth of beds

Aurangabad, April 1:

There are 10,915 active Corona patients in the district at present, of which 50 percent are home isolated. Hence, only 50 percent of patients are being treated at the government and private hospitals. Still, there is a shortage of beds for serious patients in the city.

Moreover, the patients from other districts of Marathwada, Khandesh and Nashik are also coming for treatment in the district. The private hospitals are not ready to give the information about the patients to the municipal corporation.

Since the beginning of March, the Corona patients in the city and the rural areas are rising. Out of every 100 tests, 30 to 35 persons are reported positive. The situation is getting worst. Hence, the health administration is conducting around 10,000 tests daily, and a target to vaccinate 2 lakh people has been set.

The shortage of beds is being felt in the district. The relatives of the serious patients have to wander from hospital to hospital in search of beds. The private hospitals are not providing information to the corporation. The patients from other district are being admitted in the hospitals in the district and hence the dearth of beds is being faced, the sources said.

The private hospitals are charging around Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 as advance before admitting the patients. The patients have to pay around Rs 2 lakh for complete treatment. The expense of the PPE kits used by the doctors is also included in the bills. Earlier, the administration had taken strict action against such actions of the hospital and a team to inspect the bills was also established.
