61 pc beds vacant in Civil Hospital as COVID cases fall

With the decline in the number of Novel coronavirus patients in the city, around 61 per cent beds are unoccupied in District Civil Hospital (DCH) for the past few days.

It may be noted that there was a continuous rise in the number of COVID patients, this caused a shortage of beds. Patients and their relatives had to move from one hospital to another for beds.

The district administration instructed to increase the number of beds in Government Medical College and Hospital and DCH along with private hospitals.

There were 200 beds in DCH. A total of 100 more beds were made available on September 29. However, there was declining in patients figure since September 25. The DCH has 120 beds with oxygen facility while eight are ICU beds.

Additional district civil surgeon Dr Kamlakar Mudkhedkar said that 116 patients were undergoing treatment while 184 beds were unoccupied currently. The DCH had developed separate sections in March by spending lakhs of rupees. The partition of the section was removed to make space for enhanced beds.
