72 active Corona patients from 28 villages in district

Aurangabad, Feb 18:

The number of Corona patients in the rural areas in the

district was not more than 13 in the past one month and the total number of

active patients here was less than 50. However, the severity of Corona has once

again felt in the rural areas now. The total number of active patients has

reached to 72 from 28 villages in the past two days. As a result, the total

number of active patients is heading towards 100 now.

As per the statistics of the health department on February

17, in all, 1,31,633 tests were conducted in the rural areas in the district so

far, of which, 16,122 were found positive, of which 15,196 recovered, 359 died

while 72 are being treated. The positivity rate through the RTPCR tests is 15.1

percent and 9.9 through the antigen tests. The positive patients are found

mostly from Aurangabad, Kannad and Paithan tehsils. Soyegaon, Khuldabad is

presently free from Corona. Hence, the health department has started

preparations to start the Covid Care Centres (CCC) in the rural areas.

Presently, there are two active patients at Bajaj Vihar CCC at Waluj while 70

are being treated in the city. Similarly, as per the statistics of the

Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the active patients from the rural

areas are 135.

District health officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke said, the

planning for the vaccination of the general public is from March 16. Before

that, the vaccination of the frontline workers has to be completed. There are

two CCCs in Waluj area. The patients are increasing in Sillod and Paithan. The

administration is emphasizing on Tracing and Testing, he said.
