Ageing domestic maids feted to mark IWD

Aurangabad, March 9:

The NGO, Anna Vachawa Samiti (AVS), had recently felicitated two maids to honour their work on account of International Women's Day.

The names of maids are Rukminibai Fakirchand and Anusayabai Totaram (both residents of Baijipura). Their speciality is that their age is more than 75 years, and they continue to work as domestic help (as maids) in 5-7 houses daily. They had become grandmothers but continued working to remain financially independent (Atmanirbhar) and stand on their feet. The duo also claimed of not seeing any doctor till this age. They had vowed to work till the last breathe, it is learnt.

The function to salute their work spirit was organised near Apex Hospital (in Basaiyyenagar). The police inspector (of Jinsi police station), Vyankatesh Kendre, feted these outstanding women. PSI Poonam Patil, Dr Vijay Deshmukh, NGO's Anant Motale, Adv Shrichand Jigyasi, many senior citizens and women members and others were present on occasion.
