Aurangabad, Jan 19:

Ambulances which carry serious patients do not get way on different parts of the city because nobody is serious about it and there is no punishment.

During a review, a journalist from the newspaper found that the ambulance left Mondha Naka at 1.24 pm today and reached the hospital near Seven Hills at 1.32 pm

During the eight minutes, the ambulance faced hurdles as it was not given side by riders and drivers of two and three-wheelers. Traffic police always rush to clear road, but there is no punishment for proving a hurdle.

Ambulance drivers said that ambulances play an important role in transporting serious patients to the hospital, so, people should cooperate and give them way from both sides.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP)-Traffic Suresh Wankhede said that there is no specific provision in the motor vehicle act to punish those proving hurdle on the way of ambulance.

“However, action can be taken under other provisions of the Act. There is a first preference to give way to the ambulance. People should give way to ambulance even when there is a red signal on the road,” he added.
