Aurangabad, Feb 9:

The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) through the new water supply scheme contractor had started conducting a survey to laid down main pipelines from Jayakwadi Dam to Nakshatrawadi. Hence, taking the cue of it, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey today strongly instructed the MJP to start the construction of 49 elevated storage reservoirs (ESRs) and four ground-level storage reservoirs (GSRs) in the city, within a month.

Pandey took the review of the new water supply scheme in his office today. MJP's acting superintending engineer Ajay Singh, AMC's city engineer S D Panzade, executive engineer K P Dhande, deputy engineer Kiran Patil and others attended the meeting.

The officials also had a detailed discussion on the water supply to the Cantonment area, construction of water treatment plants between Jayakwadi and Nakshatrawadi, constructions of 49 ESRs, GSRs etc. The officials apprised the civic chief that the construction of ESRs had also started at six places in the city.

Pandey then told to start the construction of ESRs and GSRs within a month. The meeting also had a discussion on the water distribution networking in the city. It is hoped that the distribution works would be started in 5-6 months. The AMC administrator also recommended starting the headworks at Jayawadi Dam, construct master balancing reservoirs (MBRs), water treatment plants etc. in a month.
