AMC civic chief inaugurates Dry Run of Covid-19 vaccination in Cidco

The municipal commissioner A K Pandey appealed to the citizens not to worry about the Covid-19 vaccine. Besides, AMC''s health teams had an adequate experience of successfully executing and administering polio and rubella immunisation drive in the past. The vaccine is safe, and also you are in safe hands, he stressed.

Pandey was speaking at the inauguration of Dry Run of Covid-19 vaccination programme organised at Aurangabad Municipal Corporation''s (AMC) primary health centre at Cidco N-11 sector, today morning. The additional commissioner B B Nemane, the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar, WHO''s Dr Syed Mujeeb, medical officer Dr Megha Jogdand and PRO Tauseef Ahmed were also present on occasion.

The municipal commissioner witnessed the demonstration of dry run and each health personnel''s responsibilities in administering the vaccine. It may be noted that the Covid-19 vaccination will administer the vaccine to the doctors and paramedical staff (of government and private hospitals) through 122 booths (vaccination centres). The AMC will deploy a squad comprising 6-7 officers and personnel at each centre. The AMC health administration has received 19,000 online registration, so far.

The AMC had selected 25 health personnel including doctors, nurses for the dry run. The centre was converted into a real vaccination centre. Each beneficiary was called, and the vaccination staff was then pretending to give the vaccine (in a mechanical way). The civic chief also lauded the ASHA workers, ANM and other staff for decorating the interior of the health centre. The staff made rangoli drawing, displayed balloons etc. He also took photographs with them and declared the successful implementation of dry run.

Pandey said the citizens should not get panic but stay safe by taking preventive measures - use facemask, maintain physical distance and use hand wash or sanitiser.
