AMC civic chief raise objection over appointment of new ASCDCL CEO

Aurangabad, Feb 3 :

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey has objected to the appointment of Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited's (ASCDCL) chief executive officer (CEO) Babasaheb Manohare, by the state Urban Development Department (UDD), recently.

According to sources, " In his letter addressed to the UDD principal secretary Mahesh Pathak, the municipal commissioner Pandey raised an objection and demanded to cancel the appointment. He gave the reference of the government's letter issued on dated June 18, 2016. According to which, the CEO of Smart City will be an IAS officer and the government will give preference to them at the time of appointment. Manohare is not an officer of an IAS rank. Besides, the ASCDCL's board of directors (BoD) had already appointed the AMC commissioner as the CEO. As a result, the present post is not vacant."

Meanwhile, the former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele has urged the chief minister and the guardian minister to re-instate Pandey as the CEO as he is doing an outstanding job.

Two days ago, the state government had appointed the officer of a chief officer rank Babasaheb Manohare as the CEO of ASCDCL. Hence the civic chief, who is also holding the charge of CEO and administrator, was accordingly relieved from the additional burden of ASCDCL.
