AMC demolishes shops built on parking spaces from Jalna Road vicinity

Aurangabad, Jan 9:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today demolished many shops and rooms built illegally on the spaces reserved for parking of vehicles in the properties, from the vicinity of Jalna Road.

The squad removed nine shops from Chetna Trade Centre (on Jalna Road) and freed the parking space today. The Maharashtra Public School Society has started a school in the residential area and was conducting classes in the margin space inside the compound by covering it with the tin shed. Hence the civic squad removed the tin shed. Another property-owner Sukhbir Chatwal illegally constructed shops in the basement and parking areas for commercial gains. He had leased out all the shops. Besides, steel staircase was erected illegally in the compound and open spaces. Hence the AMC also demolished them through the JCB. They also removed the steel frame board, which was creating a nuisance to the traffic.

As reported earlier, the assistant director of town planning (ADTP) section had prepared a list of properties where the owner had made illegal constructions on the parking spaces or open spaces. The section had handed over the list to the anti-encroachment squad for further action.

The town planning section sanction building permissions on the basis of plans submitted to them. Each big property-owner must reserve parking spaces in their buildings as per the town planning norms. However, the property-owners, after obtaining permission, convert the parking space for personal or commercial benefits. Many of them convert this space into flats or shops. They either lease it out or sell them. Moreover, to evade action against them and hide their illegal constructions, the property owner does not contact the AMC for obtaining completion certificates.

Today''s action was taken upon the orders of the municipal commissioner A K Pandey and under the guidance of the additional commissioner R P Nikam by the ADTP Jayant Kharwadkar, deputy engineer Suresh Kombde, junior engineer Shradha Mankar, designated officer Savita Sonawane, R S Rachatwar, building inspectors Syed Jamsheed, Mazhar Ali, P B Gaoli, Ravindra Desai, Sagar Shresth, jawan Ashok Kadam, Bhagwan Karke, Vinod Magare, AMC police security and anti-encroachment squad members, stated the release.
