Aurangabad, Oct 19:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officers and employees are working wholeheartedly to eradicate the Corona crisis from the city for the past seven months. Many of the employees were even infected with the Coronavirus. They had spent lakhs of rupees on treatment. Now, they have started submitting the medical reimbursement bills for the amount they spent on treatment. As many as, 15 proposals have been received so far and these files have been sent to the AMC administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, informed medical officer Dr Neeta Padalkar.

As per the government norms, the permanent employees get the medical reimbursement bills. The government has fixed the list of the diseases eligible for the reimbursement, including 27 sudden and 5 serious diseases. However, Corona is a new disease and it is not included in the list. Hence, there is confusion over the reimbursement to the Corona affected employees. A resolution can be passed in the general body meeting, and the proposal can be sent to the government. However, there are no people’s representatives in the corporation presently, and hence, the administrator can send the proposal.

Although there is no clear mention of Corona in the list, diseases concerning breathing are mentioned. Based on this, the files of the officers and employees have been sent to the administrator and can be sanctioned by the orders of the administrator, Dr Padalkar said.

The private hospital issues a total bill upto Rs 3 lakh for treating Corona like severe symptoms. In all, 15 proposals have been submitted to the AMC so far and for which the administration will have to pay Rs 50 lakh, the sources said.
