AMC razes 9 properties obstructing traffic on Beed Bypass Road

Aurangabad, March 15:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today has removed nine properties that were encroaching upon the Beed Bypass Road. The AMC had removed 16 properties situated on the route, and seven more will be demolished soon.

Two years ago, the AMC had demolished the large number of properties encroaching upon the service roads of Beed Bypass Road. The AMC had taken action to widen the road, smoothen the flow of traffic and reduce the ratio of accidents on this busy road. However, 23 property-holders of this road had approached the court to evade the action and harm to their properties, but the court has now settled the legal matter. Hence the AMC resumed the action.

The Town Planning officials marked the properties on Wednesday and Thursday. Later on, the AMC administrator A K Pandey and the additional commissioner R P Nikam have appealed to the property-holders to raze down their properties on their own. The drive started on Friday, and the squad removed seven properties on the first day. Later on, there was a complete lockdown on Saturday and Sunday. As a result, the AMC squad today started the action from Mahanubhav Ashram (crossroad) and removed nine properties. They include three shops of Sajeda Naeem, two shops of Pyari Begum Nabi Patel, one shop each of Bhatti and Munaf Kutchi and compound walls of Kanchan Chate and Shidori Hotel.

The team led by the designated officer Savita Sonawane, R S Rachatwar and Vasant Bhoye, along with sectional engineer (Town Planning) Sanjay Kapale, building inspectors and other personnel, took action. Tight security was maintained by police inspector Faheem Hashmi and his team, stated the release.
