AMC seizes mobile tower erected in one night!

Aurangabad, Jan 27:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today seized an illegally erected a mobile tower of 23-feet-height from Uttamnagar-Buddhnagar (in Jawahar Colony vicinity), in the afternoon. The work of erecting tower was started in the night, and the neighbouring residents were surprised to see in the morning. The civic squad seized the tower material.

The tower was erected on the house of Devidas Lahane without conducting a structural audit of his property. On seeing the mobile tower on the terrace of Lahane, the responsible citizens contacted the AMC. Acting upon the information, the anti-encroachment squad also reached the spot. The erection of the tower was stopped, unbolted and civic officials seized its material. The squad also warned the mobile company's labourers of taking severe action, if the work is restarted. According to the AMC officials, the structural audit of Lahane's house would have helped to understand whether it is able to bear the weight of the mobile tower and its related accessories.

The squad also removed encroachments existing made on the road extending from Laxman Chawadi to Jaffar Gate. The road is one of the 23 roads in the city, developed through the state government fund of Rs 152 crore. Under the guidance of the additional commissioner R P Nikam, the designated officer Savita Sonawane, Vasant Bhoye, R S Rachatwar, Shivaji Lokhande (sectional engineer of Town Planning), B. Bomble, building inspector Syed Jamsheed, Sagar Shresth and others took action.
