AMC spends Rs 4.53 crore on food for Covid patients

Aurangabad, April 29:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had spent Rs 4.53 crore on providing free meals to the Covid patients undergoing treatment in its 14 Covid Care Centres (CCCs) in the last one year. The food was provided by reputed caterers of the city.

It may be noted that the AMC had appointed 10 caterers during the last year. These caterers provided food to patients and also the staff deployed at each CCC. It had cleared bills of Rs 4.53 crore against food supplied from March 2020 to April 2021. Presently, the food is being provided by six caterers to 14 CCCs. The patients are happy with the quality of food served to them during their stay in the centre.

One reputed caterer shared his grievance saying, " We were providing meals, but few patients and their relatives raised complaints regarding food quality. It was done intentionally. Hence, to avoid mental stress and save our business reputation, we preferred to relieve ourselves from the responsibility. We were getting the bills from AMC on time."
