AMC to launch counselling cell for pandemic patients today

Aurangabad, May 25:

Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) decided to launch ‘Manomitra' a counselling cell’ from May 26 to provide counselling to COVID patients.

Each patient will get counselling for a month from the first day of admitting him/her in a hospital.

After infected, a person is admitted in a COVID Care Centre or hospital. Many patients feel inferiority complex and anxiety. This put patients under a lot of stress and fear and create further complications.

Patients need emotional support in such a situation and understand their thoughts. Considering this, AMC administrator Astik Kumar Pandey decided to start counselling cell for patients. The cell will be launched on May 26. Dr Kalpana Mote will be the coordinator of the Cell.

The AMC received a list of 25 to 30 counsellors because of an initiative taken by the President of Psychologist Association of Maharashtra Dr Sandeep Shisode, Dr Madhura Anwikar from Pankh Foundation, former corporator adv Madhuri Sawant.

All pandemic patients will get free one month’s counselling through a helpline from 8 am to 8 pm.

The patient will have to call through a helpline and he/she will be given an appointment for counselling. Those counsellors who will be available will counsel the patients.
