AMC to purchase 1,000 Remdesivir injections

The medical officer of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Dr Neeta Padalkar, said that the corporation has decided to purchase 1,000 Remdesivir injections and 20,000 antigen test kits.

The state government has made Remdesivir injections available in all government hospitals. Dr Padalkar said that although no specific drug is available to treat corona patients, the use of pills to boost immunity is going on. It has also been shown Remdesivir injections are effective for critically ill patients. Therefore, the demand for injections has increased. Initially, the injection was sold for Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000. The government has made injections available in government hospitals to curb the black market. AMC had earlier ordered 100 injections. Now one thousand injections are being purchased. The government rate for this injection is Rs. 2,200, she added.

Antigen kit rates come down

The AMC conducted a large number of antigen tests to prevent corona infection. So far, 240,000 kits have been used and another 20,000 kits have been ordered. The rates of the kits have also come down. The kit, which was initially priced at Rs 550, is now priced at Rs 370, Dr Padalkar said.
