AMC to undertake cleaning of internal roads through sweeping machines

Aurangabad, Feb 19:

The Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) has placed an order for three sweeping machines to undertake cleaning of the internal roads in the city. The estimated cost of machines is Rs 98 lakh, and they are expected to be delivered to Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in March.

The dust on the roads leads to pollution and poses a threat to vehicle-riders. Earlier, the AMC had procured one sweeping machine, which is sometimes used to clean the important roads. However, the cost of fuel (diesel) is unbearable for the cash-strapped AMC.

The civic body was in dire need of small sweeping machines to clean the city's internal roads. The AMC's solid waste management (SWM) has already adopted the Indore Pattern to maintain the city clean and excel in the Cleanliness Survey. Hence the purchase of three machines would help give a push to AMC in achieving the goal.

It is learnt that ASCDCL's tender received five responses from various companies. Of which, the tenders of two were valid. The supply order has been given to Maniyar Company for quoting the lowest price. The cost of one seeping machine is Rs 32.75 lakh. The Smart City fund will be utilised to purchase the machines.
