AMC vacates possession of 22 properties obstructing traffic in Kiradpura

Aurangabad, Jan 7:

Amid mild protest from few property-holders, the anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has removed 22 shops and pucca constructions from Kiradpura locality, on main road extending from Roshan Gate to Maulana Azad Chowk, today. The squad was active from 11 am to 7.30 pm.

Previously, the AMC had acquired several properties in the above locality to construct a development plan road. The AMC had paid land compensation to these occupants. However, the AMC had not taken physical possession of the properties. Taking advantage of which these property-holders reconstructed upon the to-be acquired land and gave the shops and properties on rental basis.

The concerned section had served intimation notices to the property-holders but was in vain. Later on, the additional commissioner had a meeting with land acquisition section and town planning section and prepared a list of property-holders (on land bearing CTS Nos. 11872, 11873, 11802, 11875 etc.) to whom the civic body had paid the compensations. Hence the squad acquired those properties as they created an obstruction to the traffic on the DP road.

Meanwhile, this led to tension in the locality for some time. Hence additional commissioner R P Nikam arrived at the spot and convinced all the property-holders. Meanwhile, to avoid the material losses, the AMC gave them two hours for the property-holders to shift their valuables and important things and vacate the possessions.

Meanwhile, the squad again witnessed opposition from some property-holders. As a result, the Jinsi police station''s police inspector Vyankat Kendre and police inspector of anti-encroachment squad Faheem Hashmi intervened the matter, and then the task of removing obstructing properties continued till 7.30 pm, and the whole road was freed from traffic nuisance, stated the release.

Under the guidance of additional commissioner (II) R P Nikam, the designated officers Vasant Bhoye and Savita Sonawane, deputy engineer (town planning) Sanjay Kombade, sectional engineer Karbhari Ghuge, junior engineer Shradha Mankar, R S Rachatwar, building inspectors Syed Jamsheed, Mazhar Ali, P B Gaoli, Ravindra Desai, Sagar Shresth and others took action in the presence of security.
