Amid enthusiasm, COVID vaccination drive got implemented successfully in city

Aurangabad, Jan 16:

The visitors (doctors and paramedical staff) at the five vaccination centres set up by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) were impressed with the floral decorations made at the entrance, drawing of rangoli, decoration of balloons, selfie-point and clean campus today. The preparations were being made to welcome the beneficiaries and implement the drive since at 6 am with zeal and enthusiasm was maintained till 5 pm.

The drive got inaugurated with the first shot at Bansilalnagar centre in the presence of the guardian minister Subhash Desai, MP Bhagwat Karad, MLA Atul Save, MLC Ambadas Danve, Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire, former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, Gajanan Barwal, district collector Sunil Chavan, municipal commissioner A K Pandey and the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar. Later on, the remaining four centres were informed to start the vaccination.

At the outset, Karad and Save questioned about the invitees to Dr Padalkar and about displaying of large screen as the Prime Minister was inaugurating the drive in the nation and about the awareness of vaccination drive to the collector. Later on, an argument took place between the journalists and the collector. The media persons expressed their disappointment before the guardian minister. However, Khaire intervened the matter and settled it. Accordingly, the enthusiasm prevailed upon the campus.

Bansilalnagar Centre

A team of health personnel started to prepare for the vaccination programme and decorating the centre since 6.25 am, said in-charge of vaccination centre, Dr Ujwala Bhamre. After completing all paperwork and health check-up, the Covid-19 vaccine was given to each beneficiary. The beneficiaries were welcomed with a rose flower. The private medical practitioners Dr Rajendra Vaidya, Dr Prashant Jadhav, Dr Rashmi Borikar, Dr Pradeep Gujrathi, Dr Ruta Borgaonkar, Dr Kishore Pargaonkar and others took the vaccine. The civic doctors Dr Smita Nalgirkar, Dr Archana Rane, Dr Amarjyoti Shinde and Dr Rashmi Mayure inquired health of the beneficiaries.

Bhimnagar Centre

Only eight beneficiaries reported till 2 pm at the centre. However, the rush emerged after lunchtime. Of the target, 18 students of Nurses Training Institute in Padegaon did not reach the centre to take the vaccine. Hence, the staff had to contact other beneficiaries on the phone and call them for taking the vaccine, said the in-charge of vaccination centre Dr Suhasini Patil. The beneficiaries were Anganwadi sevikas, health care workers and doctors. Yogita Dhalwale, Dinesh Mhaske, Shaikh Imran, Pandharinath Manwatkar and Ganesh Basmatkar were taking efforts.

Cidco N-8 Centre

The in-charge of the vaccination centre Dr Bushra Seemi along with private practitioners, IMA office-bearers and health care workers took the first dose of the vaccine. The health staff were contacting the beneficiaries on phones to whom the SMS could not be sent due to technical reason. Many of them from the targetted list of beneficiaries did not turn up. As a result, the other doctors and paramedical staff were called to take the vaccine. One woman here got exhaust in the morning, but she left for home after taking rest for some time.

Sadatnagar Centre

The Sadatnagar centre's in-charge Dr Mukhtar Shaikh and his team comprising Dr Shoeb Shaikh, Dr Santosh Tengle, Dr Shaikh Anwar and Urmila Navhade were rendering their responsibility of administering the vaccine to private doctors, ASHA workers, health assistants and others. A beeline of beneficiaries was spotted. The health care personnel of Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital also took the vaccine at this centre.

Cidco N-11 Centre

The vaccine was given to Dr Balkrishna Rathodkar, paediatrician Dr Ravi Savre, Dr Pallavi Hiwrale, Dr Sameer Khan, Dr Vishal Thakre and other health care personnel. The special focus on decoration and maintaining clean campus was notable. There was no complaint of side effect said in-charge of the centre Dr Savre.
