ASCDCL completes construction of 100 bus shelters in city

Aurangabad, Jan 7:

The Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), has completed the phase of constructing 100 bus shelters in different parts of the city. Meanwhile, the bus shelters will help generate revenue for the civic body and ensure comfort to passengers waiting for their buses.

The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had inaugurated a replica of the Smart City bus shelter in January 2020. The construction of bus shelters, however, got halted due to declaration of lockdown in the city. Later on, the municipal commissioner and ASCDCL chief executive officer (CEO) A K Pandey intervened, and the work got revived. Moreover, as soon as there was relaxation in the lockdown, the ASCDCL restarted Smart City Buses'' operation in the city. Accordingly, the works of modern bus shelters for its passengers got completed. The task of constructing more state-of-the-art bus shelters is underway.

The ASCDCL''s deputy CEO, Pushkal Shivam said, " The Smart City bus shelters includes all passengers-friendly amenities. They provide safe shelters to passengers during their wait for the bus and equally help ASCDCL generate revenue. The shelters are constructed on built-operate and transfer (BoT) basis. The bus shelter is a good platform for businessmen, industrialists etc. to display details about their products and services. Two years ago, the city was lacking good bus stops. After the introduction of Smart City buses, the ASCDCL took efforts to give a modern look to these bus shelters. A ramp is also built at each shelter for the convenience of physically disabled passengers. They would also be able to keep their wheelchair under the shelters."
