Bamu approves Rs 337 Cr budget for FY 2021-22

Aurangabad, March 6:

Senate members of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) approve Rs 337.12 crore budgets for the financial year 2021-2021 after several amendments.

A total of Rs 3.30 crore were added to the budget for students skill development today.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole presided over the meeting. Pro-VC Dr Shyam Shirsath, registrar Dr Jaishree Suryavanshi were present.

Management Council member Principal Dr Jaisingrao Deshmukh presented the budgets.

Senior senator Bhausaheb Rajale, Sunil Magre and other member sought time for the discussions.

Chairman of the Senate and VC Dr Yeole extended one more day for the meeting. The meeting which started on Friday continued on Saturday also. The discussions were held for four hours on the budget. The members made various amendments and approved the budget.

Finance and Accounts Officer Rajendra Madke, Accounts officer Pradipkumar Jadhav, deputy registrar Sanjay Kawde, assistant registrar Bhagchand Dhage and desk officer Nitin Patil has prepared the budget.

The university is expected to get Rs 293.93 crore from all sources, including Rs 74.04 crore as salary grant, Rs 91.51 crore for development and independent projects and Rs 128.41 crore from different sources. The financial deficit is Rs 43.16 crore.

Some of the objectives of the budgets are as follows; Strengthening Earn and learn scheme, implementation of Golden Jubilee Celebration Research Fellowship for children of farmers and labourers, starting hotel management and molecule biology courses, postgraduate diploma in virology and German and Russian, School of Life Science and School of Nano Science, strengthening skill development centres at Jalna and Ambejogai, providing onscreen evaluation, digitalisation of records in examinations department.

The features of the budget are as follows; Rs 50 lakh for Paithan’s Santpith; Rs 25 lakh for Training School for Entrance in Politics; Rs 4 lakh for Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing, Rs 5 lakh for manufacturing biogas and fertiliser from garbage, Rs 350 lakh for skill development centres, Rs 200 lakh for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Memorial; Rs 140 lakh for Earn and Learn Scheme, Rs 2.48 crore for students development board;
