Aurangabad, July 17:

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) is gearing up for starting Santpith at Paithan from next month.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that an ad hoc Board of Studies (BoS) would be set up for Santpith which will commence functioning at Paithan from September.

It may be noted that the State Government planned to commence Santpith to spread values and thoughts of saints among the masses.

A ‘Samvad Meeting’ was held in Bamu on Saturday as part of preparations for starting Santpith.

Speaking in the meeting, VC Dr Yeole said that education and research on human values would be implemented through Santpith.

Pro-VC Dr Shyam Shirsath, registrar Dr Jaishree Suryavanshi, Management Council member Dr Rajesh Karpe, Santpith coordinator Dr Pravin Wakte were seated on the dais.

Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Kolhapurkar (Apegaon), Raosaheb Gosavi Maharaj, former mayor Sanjay Joshi, Dinesh Parikh, Vithalshashtri Changhate Maharaj and others were present.

The VC said that it's good that the Santpith issue would be resolved before Ashadhi.

“Santpith will come up Paithan which is Karmabhumi of Sant Eknath and birthplace of Sant Dnyaneshwar. Various diploma and certificate courses would be started soon,” he added.

Earlier, Dr Wakte made an introductory speech. Dr Hansraj Jadhav conducted the proceedings while Sanjay Shinde proposed a vote of thanks. The then Chief Minister, late Barrister A R Antulay had approved the proposal of Santpith.
