BAMU staff members stage pen-down agitation

The officers and employees of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) started week-long pen-down agitation from Thursday following a call of protest given by Maharashtra University and College Employees Action Committee (MUCAC), representing staff members of 14 non-agriculture universities of the State.
The MUCAC announced to go for pen-down agitation between September 24 and 30 for their different demands including implementation of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and time-bound promotion. State coordinator of the Action Committee Dr Kailas Pathrikar said that they would observe an indefinite strike from October 1 if their demands are not fulfilled.
The works in all the departments, including examinations, came to a standstill today.
Around 450 employees from Bamu participated in the demonstration staged in front of the administrative building. The agitators who were led by Dr Kailas Pathrikar and deputy registrar Dr Digamber Netke maintained social distancing in the protest.
Secretary of BAMU Employees union Prakash Akde, Jeevan Dongre, Anil Khamgaonkar, Dr Sunita Ankush were present. The employees from Deogiri College, Vivekanand College and other institutes participated in it.
