Bamu start scrutiny of colleges audit report

Aurangabad, June 5:

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) administration started scrutinising 400 colleges' academic reports submitted by the experts' team.

The university decided to set up a committee led by pro-vice-chancellor or retired VC for academic and administrative audit of aided and non-aided colleges within its jurisdiction.

Many non-aided colleges may not get affiliation easily. As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the process of sending the affiliation team by the university to a college for affiliation was over. The affiliation team mostly comprised teachers.

With the new UGC guidelines, a squad will be led by Pro-VC or retired VC, who will be out of university jurisdiction. The team, which will have an experienced engineer, architect, one professor and three assistant professors, will inspect building, classroom, library, laboratory, toilets, research initiatives, recruitment of principal and teachers, admitted students in f a college.

Each institute will be allotted a grade on the basis of the inspection report. Those colleges that will get grade-A will be given affiliated for three years while others will have to fulfil the required conditions. Many non-aided colleges may not affiliation as they do not have the required facilities, approved staff. According to sources, Bamu will complete the scrutiny of the report by June end.
