Cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 2.50 L stone

Cash and five tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.50 lakh were stolen from a house at Tirupati Colony in Jaibhavaninagar on September 26. A case was registered with Mukundwadi Police Station on September 30.

According to details, Vishal Baban Pawar (Tirupati Colony), a bank employee locked the front door of his house from outside at the night of September 26 and went to sleep in a room while his sister-in-law was asleep in the room located at backside. After seeing the lock from outside, thieves entered the house.

The thieves made off with four grams gold necklace, two gold rings (each weighing five grams), other jewellery, cash of Rs 45,000, a wristwatch of Rs 2500, a saree and four dresses kept in the cupboard.

Pawar’s neighbour Baban Raut and his wife, who were on a morning walk, saw the door of his open. Suspecting smoothing fishy, they informed Vishal Pawar.

Pawars went into the front room and found items scattered here and there. They realised the theft of gold ornaments and cash kept in the cupboard. They informed the police who visited the spot and took details of the crime. Vishwal Pawar was called to lodge a complaint on September 27. But, he was asked to come later as senior officers were not available in the Police Station. He made a complaint with the Police Station on September 30.

PSI R M Bangar, who is on the case, got information that notorious criminal Anarthe, along with accomplices, committed the crime. Police arrested him and launched a search to arrest his accomplices
