Central team arrives in city, Swach survey conducted confidentially

A Central team on Tuesday came to the city of Tuesday to inspect the preparations done by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for the Swach Bharat Abhiyan. The team has started its work but the AMC has maintained confidentiality about their work. The team members as per the various criterion issued by the union government inspected various places in the city. On Thursday, one more member will join the team, the sources said.

Union government has started the Swach Bharat Abhiyan six years back to make the cities in the country clean and green. Last year, the level of Aurangabad city increased as compared to its earlier performance. The AMC had made grandeur preparations for the Swach Bharat Abhiyan. However, this year no appropriate preparations were done and the officers are afraid that the facts would come to the fore. The media persons were asking the solid waste department officers about the survey by the central team. However, it was told that no such letter has been received from the union government yet. Every year, the team arrives in the city during the last week of December of the first week of January. The team arrived in the city on Tuesday and started the survey work with the help of the employees of the solid waste department.

The team inspected the condition of cleanliness at Khakeshwar Road, facilities for the disposal of garbage for the traders and other aspects. The team members visited Milind College area, Buddhilane, Harsul, Central Bus Stand, Central Octroi Post, Chaudhary Colony, Misarwadi, Aartinagar, Jaishingpura and other places.

Meanwhile, the Swach survey is done by the employees of a private institute. Three years back, the corporation had nabbed the employees of the institute red-handed while accepting bribe. Now, confidentiality is being maintained about the team.
