CID issues notices in ADCCB loan waiver scam

Aurangabad, July 1:

The Central Investigation Department (CID) has issued notices to the then directors of the Aurangabad District Central Co-operative Bank in the loan waiver scam of Rs 8.5 crores. The directors Baburao Pawar, Jairam Salunke, Trambak Madge, and Shabbir Patel have been called at the CID office to register their statements on July 2 at 11 am. Similarly, the remaining directors have been given different dates to registering their statements.

Meanwhile, director Baburao Pawar said that he would have to extend the period for writing his statement due to his ill health. In all, 28 persons have been booked in this scam, including the chairman and the then directors. The ADCCB sanctioned loan proposals of 52 cooperative institutes amounting Rs 8.5 crores. The loan amount with the interest reached to Rs 38 crores.

The bank scraped the loans stating the reasons that these institutions have been closed and the addresses are not available for the loan recovery. Adv Sadashiv Gayake had lodged a complaint at the Kranti Chowk police station while a case was registered against the then board of directors and the officers on June 10, 2016.

The investigation of the scam was given to the CID from the crime branch by the orders of the Bombay High Court Aurangabad division bench on October 9, 2019. The CID conducted the forensic audit of the loan waiver scam and notices were issued to the accused in the fraud to be present at the CID office to register their statements. Minister Sandipan Bhumre, Abdul Sattar, Nitin Patil have been called for the inquiry, and hence the political arena is eagerly waiting for the development to happen tomorrow.
