City experiencing heat due to dry winds, dust waves

Aurangabad, April 1:

Dry winds blowing from the northwest have intensified the heatwave. For the second day in a row, the temperature has risen to 39 degrees Celsius. Along with dry winds, the citizens are also dealing with dust storms throughout the day.

According to the Chikalthana meteorological department officials, the epicentre of cyclonic winds has shifted from Northcentral Maharashtra to South Maharashtra. The winds blowing from west to east have been blowing from the northwest for some time. Due to its dryness, the winds have intensified the heatwave. The temperature was 39.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, While wind speeds of 7 to 10 km per hour were also seen on Tuesday and increased to 12 to 15 km per hour on Wednesday. In the afternoon, the wind speed from the west reaches 18 kmph. From 12 noon to 5 pm, the wind direction is from northwest to southeast, which has increased the heatwave intensity.

Roads filled with dust

Due to strong winds, the dust from the potholes and roadside is being lifted in the air and causing inconvenience to the citizens. The dust flying on the road has become a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians. With the wind speed and direction constantly changing, the dust enters houses and shops, causing further inconvenience. The dust has also increased the risk of road accidents.

Indications of heatwaves

In summer, dry winds from the west and northwest increase the intensity of heatwaves. These are indications that a heatwave will hit the district. The officials have predicted a possibility of a heatwave in some parts of Marathwada.
