City records 1,679 cases on Saturday, 20 deaths

Aurangabad, March 20:

The Covid-19 cases again spiked to a record high on Saturday as the district recorded over 1,679 cases in a single day with 20 deaths. In all 558 persons (Municipal corporation 464, rural area 94) were given a discharge in Aurangabad district today. To date, 54,056 corona patients have recovered and returned home. The total number of corona patients in the district now stands at 65,922. A total of 1,408 people have died so far and a total of 10,458 patients are undergoing treatment, the district administration said. In all, 14 patients succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment in the Government College and Hospital (GMCH) and six patients died in private hospitals. Over 1,217 patients were reported in the municipal limits while 462 patients were found in rural areas. The details of the areas where more than 10 patients were found in the municipal limits include Beed Bypass (22), Osmanpura (11), Kanchanwadi (11), Ulkanagari (20), N-2 (22), N-4 (12), Satara Complex (17), Garkheda (16), Shivajinagar (17), N-6 (20), N-1 (11), Chikalthana (11), Pundaliknagar (14), N-9 (13) and Harsul (11). Meanwhile, in rural areas, there was reporting of 462 patients with the highest patients in Bajajnagar (21) and Tisgaon (9).

20 deaths reported

The district reported 20 deaths on Saturday that include a 69-year-old male from Jaitkheda, Kannad, A 55-year-old female from Kaiser Colony, a 72-year-old male from Town Hall, Anandnagar, a 76-year-old women Juna Bazar, a 70-year-old male from Juna Bazaar, a 45-year-old female from near Post Office, a 22-year-old male from Santoshi Matanagar, Mukundwadi, a 55-year-old female from Paithan, a 52-year-old woman from Shantipura, a 65-year-old male from Padmapura, a 73-year-old male from MCH Quarter, a 60-year-old male from Sadatnagar, a 72-year-old male from Shivnerinagar, Garkheda, and a 75-year-old female from Kharakunwa died in government medical college and hospital. While a 71-year-old female from Beed Bypass, a 73-year-old male from Shah Colony, Osmanpura, a 65-year-old women N-13, Hudco, a 69-year-old male from Jaitkheda, Kannad, a 55-year-old female from Paithan and a 68-year-old male from Lasuru Station died in a private hospital.
