Aurangabad, June 4:

The district collector Sunil Chavan today held a meeting with the paediatricians, hospitals and health administration and informed them to remain alert and chalk out an effective plan to fight against the possible third wave of Covid-19 which is likely to hit the kids.

The rise in patients from 0-18 years in Ahmednagar prompted that the collector to call an urgent meeting at the district collectorate. Chavan ordered the hospitals (government or private) to upgrade health and treatment facilities so as to protect the children from the virus attack. Earlier, Chavan contacted the Ahmednagar collector and obtained the details from him on Wednesday afternoon.

The GMCH Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar apprised the members present in the meeting saying, " The spread of Coronavirus in children will be risky. Taking cognizance of its seriousness, there is a dire need to get ourselves ready. The preparations will help us to keep the kids away from the danger of the third wave."

Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Dr Mangesh Gondavale, AMC municipal officer of health Dr Neeta Padalkar, civil surgeon Dr Sunder Kulkarni, district health officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke, Dr Dixit, Dr L S Deshmukh, Dr Shyam Khandelwal, Dr Amol Joshi and many paediatricians and health officers were present in the meeting.

The collector also instructed the private hospitals, paediatricians and health officials to upgrade with all the required treatment facilities and possible stock the medicines and make effective planning. He also told to make arrangements for trained manpower and an adequate number of beds in the hospitals. Meanwhile, the collector suggested the GMCH undertake the training of paediatricians and nurses and get ready the Milk Bank facility to provide relief to the children at the hospital.
