Aurangabad, March 6: Amid the talk of the ten-day lockdown in the city from Monday, district collector Sunil Chavan today said that he would conduct a meeting of the municipal administrator and commissioner of police on March 7 (Sunday) to take a decision.

Chavan is currently on holiday and will resume duty on Sunday. “No one person can decide about the lockdown. We will jointly take a call after discussions during the meeting at my residence. No sudden decision will be taken. We will not take any step that causes inconvenience to the people," the collector said.

”We will evaluate the extent of the spread of the virus and as the head of the District Disaster Management Authority I will take a call whether to announce the lockdown or not,’’ the collector added.

10-days lockdown in city from Monday?

Earlier, unconfirmed reports were making round on Saturday that 10-day lockdown will be declared in the city from Monday. The district administration, municipal corporation administration and the police have had discussions and the final decision regarding the lockdown from Sunday midnight will be announced, the sources had said.

The positivity rate of Coronavirus has increased from 12 pc to 15 pc in the city. The situation is considered to be under control if the positivity rate is less than 5 pc.
