Conserve nature for future generations: Desarda, Loksanvaad programme at MGM Journalism college

Aurangabad, Feb 2: There is consciousness throughout the world that we must conserve the nature for future generations, said economist H M Desarda while speaking at the Loksanvaad programme organized by the MGM College of Journalism and Mass Communication on the topic ‘Vasundhara Rakshan-Sanvardhan Abhiyan’ (Earth Conservation Campaign) at Vinoba Bhave Hall, MGM University, here recently. Vice chancellor Dr Sudhir Gavhane, registrar Dr Ashish Gadekar, deputy registrar Prerana Dalvi, dean, social sciences and principal of MGM CJMC Dr Rekha Shelke were present.

Desarda highlighted the inequalities spread in India where he stated that we produce 10 crore tonnes of grain every year but at the same time, 19 crore people are sleeping with an empty stomach. He also emphasized the importance of changing our approach towards education in the 21st century and quoting Alwin Tofler said those who have the capacity of learning, unlearning, and relearning will be known as literate people.

He gave the vision of 'Pollution-free development, non-toxic food and exploitation-free India.’

VC Dr Gavhane stated that everything in this universe will become extinct, so we should get rid of the human superiority complex and be humble to nature.

Dr Vishakha Garkhedkar anchored the programme. Faculties and students from different institutes of MGM University were present.
