Aurangabad, July 17:

The blood donation camp organised under Lokmat Raktacha Nata at the police commissionerate in the city has evoked a good response as 49 cops, including eight lady constables, donated their blood on Saturday.

The special drive is launched all over Maharashtra to mark the anniversary of freedom fighter and Lokmat's founder Jawaharlal Darda alias Babuji. The camp was organised at 10.30 am. The police constables and their relatives donated the blood enthusiastically. The Lokmat's Editor-in-Chief Rajendra Darda and the commissioner of police Dr. Nikhil Gupta presented certificates to the blood donors and also feted them by presenting flowers.

Darda said " The economic situation restored to its normalcy after relaxation in Covid-19 pandemic. The surgeries that were set aside for the past one and a half years have now been started to perform. Sensing the severe shortage of blood in the state and the need for it during this situation, the special blood donation drive has been undertaken to overcome the shortage of blood. There is a good response to the camps all over the state."

Praising Lokmat for taking up the noble cause, Gupta said, " The overwhelming response to the blood donation drive from various quarters in Maharashtra is the receipt of the trust earned by Lokmat."

The deputy commissioner of police Meena Makwana, assistant commissioner of police Suresh Wankhede, police inspector Rajkumar Sonawane, assistant PI Amol Satodkar, and head constable Sandeep Borade took the efforts for the success of programme. The blood was collected by Lokmanya Blood Bank.
