Court directs to serve notice to VC, registrar & BoEE director

Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice S D Kulkarni has issued directives to serve a notice to the vice-chancellor, registrar and director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation (BoEE) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) following a petition filed by Prashant Amrutkar. The next hearing has been placed on November 4.

Prashant Amrutkar sought money from Hanumant Waghmare who was doing Ph D under his guidance. The audio clip of communication between Amrutkar and Waghmare went viral on social media. Some Senators complained to VC, demanding action against the dean.

On the directives of VC, a probe committee led BoEE director was set up. Prashant Amrutkar remained present before the panel and presented his say. The committee submitted the report to VC stating it appears that the voice in the audio clip is of Amrutkar and Waghmare.

Based on the report, the administration cancelled research guideship of Amrutkar on October 3, 2020. Also, removed him from the post of the dean and cancelled his lean period.

Amrutkar filed a petition to challenged the decisions of the VC in the court through senior lawyer Rajendra Deshmukh. Adv Deshmukh argued that the audio clip which has the communication of the year 2018 may be doctored.

“The research student Waghmare has made any complaint with the Students Grievance Redressal Committee,” he argued. The court has issued directives to serve notice to the VC, registrar and BoEE director.
