In the backdrop of the incident of an attempt to molest a resident doctor at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) recently, District collector, Sunil Chavan and commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta visited GMCH. Both the officers reviewed the security situation and issued directives to strengthen it further.

Gupta questioned the security guards that how the criminal minded people enter the GMCH premises when only doctors, staff, patients and their relatives are allowed here.

It may be noted that two persons attacked a lady resident doctor going to super specialty block from the hostel on Wednesday night. They threatened her with a knife, pressed her mouth and tried to drag her in the nearby bushes. However, the doctor screamed for help and both of them fled from the scene. After the incident, the issue of safety of doctors and staff came to the fore once again.

The doctors and the staff are working very hard in the Corona crises and they should be given co-operation, he directed the guards.

Chavan directed to install street lights wherever necessary and cover it with iron cage. The bushes should be cleared immediately. The required funds will be provided for the safety measures at GMCH. The persons living illegally in the hostels will be removed, he said.
