CPI protests against rising inflation

Aurangabad, June 30: Demonstrations were held at Paithangate on Wednesday as part of the countrywide protest by the Communist Party of India (CPI) against rising inflation.

The demonstrators demanded that the government should reduce the prices of petrol and diesel, revoke the price hike of fertilisers, seeds and farming equipment, reduce the rising prices of essential commodities, edible oils and grains, provide financial assistance of Rs 7500 per month to the families below poverty line, supply 10 kg of grains, pulses, edible oils, spices, tea to each family registered under Gram Kalyan and other schemes as announced by the Prime Minister. The demonstrators also demanded to immediate payment of compensation to farmers in respect to crop insurance and provide incentive allowance to employees in unorganised sector. A memorandum of demands was handed over to the district collector consisting of signatures of Prof Ram Baheti, Ashfaq Salami, Abhay Taksal, Bhaskar Lahane, Madhukar Khillare and others.
