Crescent moon sighted; Ramzan Eid to be celebrated today

Aurangabad, May 13:

Crescent moon was sighted in the district that marks the end of Holy month Ramzan. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 14.

Muslim brethren will offer a special prayer of Eid at home by following all COVID measures.

This is the second year that they will not be able to offer special prayer at Eidgah because of the pandemic virus spread. The State Government has already imposed strict curbs to contain the spread of the virus. Gathering people is not allowed at religious places as part of measures.

This year, fasting was observed in the scorching sun of April and May.

There was around 40-degree celsius temperature of the city during Ramzan month.

Moon was night sighted in any part of the country on Wednesday, so fasting was observed on the 30th day.

Crescent moon was signed after Maghrib (evening) prayer. Muslim brethren

greeted each other and will pray almighty on the festival to make the world free from COVID.

Religious heads have already appealed to the community members to celebrate the festival with simplicity.

There was a rush to purchase milk at dairies at night for the festival. Milk is an important ingredient for preparing ‘Sheer Khurma’, the special dessert of the festival.
