Cyber police action saves Rs 96K of retired principal

Aurangabad, Nov 24: Prompt action by cyber police saved an amount of Rs 96,000 belonging to a retired principal. According to the police, retired principal of the PES Engineering College Milind Deshpande was finding it difficult to download Aarogya Setu app on his mobile pone. So, he searched the customer care number of Aarogya Setu on Google and called up the mobile number concerned. The person who received the call asked Deshpande to install AnyDesk app on his cell phone. After this, he asked Deshpande to send Rs 10 through Paytm for the purpose of completing KYC. Taking control of Deshpande’s phone through AnyDesk, the cyber criminal transferred Rs 96,000 in three installments to an account in Uttar Pradesh.

Deshpande immediately sought help of the cyber police station at the commissioner of police. The police swung into action and froze the transferred amount within three hours. The police latter did the correspondence with the bank concerned and got back the amount.
