DC warns drivers to wear masks

Aurangabad, Oct 14:

District collector Sunil Chavan warned that it is compulsory for every driver involved in the public transport to use a mask. If anyone does not follow the rules, stern action will be taken against him.

He was addressing the meeting of the regional transport authority on Tuesday. Chavan is the president of the authority. Member secretary of the authority and RTO (acting) Sanjay Metrewar and other officers were present.

Chavan directed the concerned officers to take stern action against the public transport drivers if found breaching the norms. The permit of the drivers caught without masks for the first time will be cancelled for 30 days and for 90 days for the second time. Similarly, the permit will be cancelled permanently on the third occasion, he directed.

If all types of permits, learning and permanent licenses, renewal of the vehicle holders are terminated after February 1, 2020 during the lockdown period. A decision was taken in the meeting as per the union government''s directives to extend the validity of these documents till December 31, 2020.
