Demand for Aurangabad potatoes increases from other states

Aurangabad, Dec 27:

Potato production is increasing in the district with increased demand from other states. Despite the severe cold, the demand for Pearl Millet (Bajra) has declined by 40 per cent over the previous year.

There has been no major rise in prices of grains, pulses and oil in the past week. More than 70 tonnes of new potatoes are arriving from Indore in Jadhavwadi Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC). Also, this year, farmers from Phulbari, Sillod and Kannad areas have also started producing large quantities of potatoes. The demand for Aurangabadi potatoes has increased from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Local potatoes are being sold at Rs 12 to 15 per kg. Indore potatoes are being sold at Rs 8 to 18 per kg. Potatoes are being sold at Rs 30-40 per kg in the vegetable market. At present, 60 tonnes of onion is being sold in the market at Rs 20-22 per kg in wholesale and Rs 30-40 per kg in retail. In winter, the demand for bajra increases, but this year the sales of bajra have decreased by 40 per cent as compared to last year.

Edible oil sales declined
