Aurangabad, Jan 16:

MLC Satish Chavan was felicitated in a programme held at Rukhmini Hall of MGM Campus on Saturday, for his victory third-time in Marathwada Graduates Constituency election.

A demand was raised in the ceremony to make MLC Chavan a minister. The dignitaries over this shared many funny incidents.

Supriya Sule who felicitated Chavan assured the audience of taking up the matter with NCP Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil.

She said that if both- Satish Chavan and MLC Vikram Kale- wish to become education minister, there is one technical problem: the portfolio is with Congress.

“Anyway, we will try to find out a way,” she remarked, raising an eyebrow.

Earlier, making an introductory speech, programme convener Dr Rajesh Karpe said there is a need to give Chavan a big responsibility.

Commenting on the point, MLC Kale said that since Karpe is a teacher, he hesitated to speak it properly.

“Karpe wanted to tell us that as BJP made Nitin Gadkari and Chandrakant Patil minister after winning graduates constituency election, Satish Chavan or I should be made a minister. I am ready to give up the chance for Chavan. If you want to give us an opportunity, give us minister’s post for two and a half years duration each,” he said. The audience burst into peals of laughter over this.

Satish Chavan said his victory in the Constituency is of Bahujans. “If we talk about the minister’s post, I think it should be given to Kale. He should be given the portfolio of Education,” he said while making the audience to laugh.

Vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Dr Pramod Yeole presided over the ceremony. Chancellor of MGM University Ankushrao Kadam, Asha Chavan (wife of Satish Chavan), Jaisinghrao Gaikwad, Kailas Patil were seated on the dais.

Dr Pratibha Ahire read the citation. Sanjay Shinde and Rajanand Suradkar have written the citation. Samdhan Ingle conducted the proceedings of the programme. Former Mayor Nandkumar Ghodele also spoke.
