Desai stays AMC''s proposal of outsourcing schools, open spaces

Aurangabad, Dec 31:

The guardian minister Subhash Desai today stayed the proposal approved by the administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Astik Kumar Pandey, to outsource seven schools and five open spaces on public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Desai took a personal interest in it or else Shiv Sena would have to face strong opposition from its opponents during the AMC elections, in future.

The AMC invited expression of interest (EOI), although many old BoT projects are lying incomplete in the city. These open spaces were primely located in various parts of the city, including Cidco areas. All was done under the pretext of enhancing the revenue of AMC.

The district collector and acting municipal commissioner Sunil Chavan said that acting upon the orders of the guardian minister he has directed the administration concerned to stay the proposals and EoI process."

It so happened that the guardian minister learnt through the media that few aspirants had submitted their EoIs to the AMC in connection with the above proposal. He immediately told the acting civic chief Sunil Chavan and the divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar about the stay on the AMC''s proposal.
