Diesel price exceeding Rs 85 mark, transporters hit

Petrol and diesel prices continue to rise. In the city, petrol has gone up to Rs 94.99 per liter and diesel to Rs 85.55 per liter. The continuously rising prices of diesel is hitting transporters hard.

In Aurangabad, petrol and diesel prices have been majorly hiked since January 2021. The price hike is still ongoing. Petrol price was 88.96 per liter on October 7, 2020. On December 7, 2020, petrol was priced at Rs 91.53 per liter, while on January 7, it was priced at Rs 92.5 per liter. This rate has gone up to Rs 94.99 on February 9. Compared to October 2020, petrol price has been increased by Rs 5.67 per liter. If this rise continuous, it is expected to touch Rs 100 by early March.

Diesel prices are also on the rise. On October 7, diesel was priced at Rs 78.07 per liter in the city. On December 7, 2020, the rate reached Rs 81.71. On January 7, diesel prices had touched Rs 82.29. On February 9, diesel was priced at Rs 85.55 per litre. During the October-February period, diesel prices were hiked by Rs 8 per liter, association officials said. The transporters, which are the most important part of the country's economy, has been hit by the diesel price hike. Freight rates are not increased by the company. Still we are transporting the goods. If this situation does not change in the future, we will have to reconsider said Fayaz Khan, president, Aurangabad Goods Transport Association.
