Distric collector urges people to maintain place in ‘Level-1’ category

Aurangabad, June 7:

“All should maintain discipline and follow Covid norms in daily life to contain the spread of the pandemic virus. There is a need to ensure that the city does not lose place from ‘Level-1’ category list,” said Sunil Chavan, the district collector.

He was speaking in a Covid review meeting held at the auditorium of the district collector office on Monday. Commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta, chief executive officer of Zilla Parishad Dr Mangesh Gondavale, additional district collector Dr Anant Gavhane, resident deputy collector Sanjiv Jadhvar were present.

Sunil Chavan said that a test is being carried out strictly at all entry points of the rural areas to improve the level of the rural areas from three to one.

“The district administration will review the positivity rate of patients and occupancy of oxygen beds every Thursday. The administration lay stress on Rt-PCR test, vaccination so that number of patients should increase due to relaxations in norms,” he asserted.

The district collector said that the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation should lay stress on awareness even if the positivity rate is low in the city.

He said that it is mandatory for traders of the district and their employees to do Covid test after seven days.

Dr Mangesh Gondavale said that there are active 500 patients in rural areas.

“More and more tests will be carried out to reduce the number of active villages. Also, like city, there will be checking at entry points in rural areas,” he said.

CP Dr Nikhil Gupta said that all citizens should use masks to keep the pandemic under control in the city.

“The city is under ‘Level-1’. All should follow measures to maintain a place under this category. The health machinery should lay stress on vaccination,” he added.

The district has a capacity of doing 8,500 Covid test daily at three places. The names of the places are Government Medical College and Hospital, Covid Testing Laboratory of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and Mobile Van of District Civil Hospital. The health machinery was asked to do more and more tests.
